Journalist Hülya Kılınç was working as a correspondent for Odatv web-page.
She was taken into custody at March 5th, 2020, for the article “Odatv reached the footage of the quiet funeral service of the MIT (National Intelligence Agency) member who was martyred in Libya”. The article included information about “the funeral service held for the MIT member at Manisa, who was killed during the operations in Libya”
Kılınç, who was taken into custody in Manisa, was sent to Istanbul where the investigation was being held. Along with Kılınç, Barış Terkoğlu, editor in charge of the paper was taken into custody as well.
After the proceedings at the police precinct, she was forwarded to the Istanbul Court House. After the interrogation at the prosecutor’s office, she was arrested with the decision of the court.
The decision was based on the accusations of “causing the capture of the information and documents regarding intelligence actions”, “disclosing the information and documents regarding intelligence actions” and “capturing the information and documents regarding the intelligence actions”.
Following the arrest decision at March 5th, 2020, she was taken to Istanbul Silivri Prison.
5 other journalists were arrested on the same grounds as Kılınç.
Investigation against Kılınç is still ongoing.
